Window Treatments. Friday , September 28th , 2018 - 23:38:59 PM
Before you start shopping for your window treatments, the first thing you should do is to create a budget for yourself. This should actually be the first step before you even start considering the type and style of window treatments you might like. It makes absolutely no sense to look at certain window dressings that are outside of your budget. If you don't create an honest budget, you very well may wind up regretting the amount you spend after you get your credit card statement.
Let's begin with the basic question, "what do you want to do?" Sounds easy enough. Do you want to block sunlight altogether? Do you have a window that just gets morning sunlight, which is softer than afternoon light and therefore needs just a little bit of control? Or do you have windows that get a maximum amount of sunlight throughout the day and therefore need the most light control options available? Another function of window treatments is privacy. If your windows are on the first floor and at a level where anyone outside could peer in, you might like to have the option to block their view at times. Other windows are at a height where no one could look inside and therefore you might not have any privacy considerations at all. Perhaps you have a window (or windows) where there is no need for light control or privacy. Should you do anything at all there? You will also want to consider the energy-efficiency of window treatments, such as those that will block the heat from the sun, or allow more sunlight in to warm up a chilly room.
Modern. Clean lines are well represented in the realm of modern window treatments. Venetian blinds, solid undecorated sheers, and boldly printed or monochromatic curtains are some great trends in contemporary design. Ample sunlight always compliments the clean look of modern home interiors so there is no need to be shy of natural light. Avoiding valances and utilizing crisp modern fabrics is a great start for contemporary window treatments.
How many times do you just draw the curtains and take a peak outside? Almost every day, of course, and even more regularly when you stay indoors the whole day. But windows that are not properly decorated aren't as pleasurable to look at. Window treatments add much to the attractiveness of a window. Window treatments refers to the different types of coverings you place over your windows. You can find a wide variety of window treatments, and there are even treatments specifically for large windows readily available. You don't have to sacrifice if you have a large window, as there are plenty of attractive treatments out there made to fit large windows. The same styles of treatments are available as those for standard sized windows.
You can include more than a single pattern in your window dressings. This is particularly important in a room that does not have a pattern of its own. You can combine window treatments such as wood blinds covered with tie back panels and topped with a valance to create depth. You must also think about texture when designing your window coverings. For instance you may have a room that is predominately filled with wood pieces rather than upholstered furniture; in such a room you may want to install soft luxurious curtains. If you are working with rooms that are mostly drywall and carpeting consider the natural tones of wood to warm up the rooms.
Minimal. The best minimalist window treatment is no treatment at all! Unfortunately, not all of us live in an area where we feel comfortable bearing it all and we must provide some sort of boundaries to prevent our home lives from being public peek-shows. This can be done by utilizing untraditional materials such as colored glass, recycled plastics, or luxury textiles. Colorful panes can interact with the light, or a solid block of sheer fabric can produce a very understated window effect.
